Assisi Nature
Council
an Italian Registered Charity - ONLUS - with special tax exemption
The Assisi Nature council is
an environmental organisation inspired by St.Francis of
Assisi ’s vision of a universal brotherhood as ecological
interdependence and the frugal use of earthly resources. It
is concerned with the preservation of the natural and
cultural heritage of the area Assisi/Mount Subasio, and it
is focused on education to sustainability and environmental
ethics as its foundation.
"A
human being
is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part
limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his
thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the
rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to
our personal desires and to affection for a few persons
nearest us. Our task
must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our
circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and
the whole of nature in its beauty."
Albert
Einstein
(1879 - 1955)
The main focus of the organisation has
originally been provided by the identification with
St.Francis's vision of Universal Brotherhood,
scientifically translated as ecological interdependence,
and of a frugal use of eathly goods.
It has inspired the educational programme of the
association which strives to apply ethical principles...
to the relationship between man and all other living
creatures and to recognize the urgent need to protect
vegetal and animal forms of life against extinction of
species...
to
understand our past and develop an ecological culture
projected into the future without loosing positive cultural
identities
We are developing partnership
with organisations and individuals whose main focus is the
ethical concern in our common future.
