For more than 1300 kilometres this trail follows the route of the Old Ghan, one of Australia’s greatest railway legends. It’s an amazing journey, one that spans a range of history, scenery, road conditions and relics, and one that crosses a huge chunk of the continent. 

It’s a journey that can be done in part or as a whole, and one that offers some excellent camping and some great sights along the way.
Travel the best parts of the famous Oodnadatta Track and visit iconic outback towns. Parts of this trail can be toured with a conventional vehicle; some sections will require high clearance and a four-wheel-drive. Be prepared for an experience that can be a real eye-opener.
